Released in 1998 the coin marked 25 years since the UK joined the EEC in 1973, the second 50p to do so after the 1973 EU Hands 50p. With a mintage of 5,043,000 the coin is in relatively plentiful supply, but is under significant demand especially since the UK decided to leave the EU in 2016.
