The coin depicts the Capture of Gibraltar in 1704 by Anglo-Dutch forces during the War of the Spanish Succession, which ultimately led to the cession of Gibraltar to the British in the 1713 Treaty of Utrecht. Released into circulation in Gibraltar this 50p is not legal tender in the UK, so is very unlikely to ever turn up in your change!
